Due to various factors, including distance, weather conditions, traffic, and how many vehicles are being transported, transport times cannot be guaranteed. But the carrier will do their best to get your cargo to its destination in a timely manner.
Shipping time all depends on the transporter. Listed below are some very basic ideas to help you along the way. Make sure however you contact your shipper for their actual scheduled times.
All shipping times are estimated. Please do not base your transport on these examples without first contacting your shipper for assistance. Too many variables go into the time it takes to deliver any vehicle, thus all times are estimates only!
Shipments are based on weight that a carrier can legally carry. So there is a small price difference between $50 and $100. Size of the vehicle also dictates how many total vehicles a carrier can haul at any one time.
Auto transportation is made simple with AutoZipper. Once your order is placed you will be contacted by one of our specialists to confirm your order. At that point, your vehicle is placed into the system and our dispatchers determine the best carrier to serve you. Once dispatched, we will send you an email with all of the carrier's contact information, so can arrange pickup and/or delivery. Upon delivery, the customer will pay the carrier the balance (cash, cashier’s check, or money order).
Vehicle damage is rare, but can occasionally occur. The first thing you should do is make sure the driver understands that the damage is new and was not on the original bill of lading. The damage should be clearly marked and noted, then signed for by the driver. Upon completion of delivery, call AutoZipper and the carrier to report the damage. In most cases, the carrier will ask for an estimate, and send you payment within a couple weeks. If the carrier is not responsive, and unwilling to resolve the issue, make sure you contact their insurance company to make a claim. Be sure you have all the documentation to back up your claim – false claims can result in legal action. And please be sure to keep us in the loop. AutoZipper will assist you in the claims process. Be aware that all transportation fees must be paid to AutoZipper and the carrier before a claim can be resolved.
You do not have to pay a deposit until we have assigned you a carrier.
The Department of Transportation (DOT) prohibits belongings inside the vehicle. However, the carrier may allow up of 100 pounds of items stored in the trunk. But do so at your own risk – such belongings/items are not insured!
Damages can happen, but are rare. If this were to happen, the carrier’s insurance covers damage to your vehicle, while in transit, that may be caused by negligence. This only insures the vehicle and not any personal items contained within. Damage caused by theft, vandalism, weather, or an Act of God is not typically covered. These sort of damages should be covered by your personal auto insurance policy.
